Early 20th Century

This photo shows the external architecture of the six-story St. Denis Hotel and its expansions in the early 20th century, between 1900 and 1914. Broadway received asphalt pavement about 1900. The East 11th Street is on the right.

St. Denis Hotel opened in 1853 and it was expanded twice, about 1875 and in 1891. The hotel was transformed into an office building in 1920, when the façade decoration was removed. The building was demolished in 2019.
