Casper Samler Homestead,

29th Street and Broadway - 1867

 

The old Casper Samler homestead, on the corner of West 29th Street and Broadway, site of Gilsey House, erected between 1869 and 1871. Illustration published in 1923 in the Valentine's Manual of Old New York. Original title: The Last Farmhouse on Broadway, 1867.

The old Excelsior Stables is to the left. The Marble Collegiate Church is seen in the distance, on the corner of 29th Street and Fifth Avenue.
