The Knickerbocker Hotel opened in 1906. It was transformed into an office building after 1920. In 1988, the building was designated a New York City Landmark. It is one of the very few grand hotels in the Beaux-Arts style surviving in the Times Square area and it was one of several New York hotels built by the Astor family. In 1921 the iconic hotel was transformed into an office building.

The 9-story Hotel Albany, former Hotel Vendome, on the southeast corner of West 41st Street and Broadway is seen on the right. It was renamed Hotel Continental before March 1913.
