East 42nd Street, looking east from the intersection with Madison Avenue. On the left, fronting Pershing Square is the Grand Central Terminal, corner of Vanderbilt Avenue. Banners for Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon hang above part of the street. The old Hotel Manhattan is on the left. The Columbian Carbon Building is on the northeast corner of Madison Ave.
