Woolworth Building, Lower Manhattan - 1924

Aerial photo of the 57-story Woolworth Building at 233 Broadway, between Park Place and Barclay Street, in Lower Manhattan. View looking east from West St. / Cortlandt St. toward East River. Photo dated December 3, 1924 (1 PM). Source: Records of the Army Air Forces, U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

The Woolworth was the highest building in the world from 1913 to 1930. The old Post Office Building was demolished in 1939. Park Row shows some of the early skyscraper of the City of New York, built in the 19th century, like the Pulitzer Building, Park Row Building, Tribune, N.Y. Times and others.

The old Hudson Terminal buildings, completed in 1908, are on the left. In 1962, the railroad and Hudson Terminal were acquired by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The buildings were demolished in 1972 to make way for the World Trade Center.
