The projected World Building seen from City Hall Park as published in the Harper's Weekly magazine issued in January 18, 1890, when the building was still under construction and known as Pulitzer Building. Drawn by Charles Graham. Original title: The Pulitzer Building, the New Home of the New York "World".

Construction of the 18-story World Building began in October 1889. It was completed in 1890 and demolished in 1955. It was the tallest building in New York City until 1894, when it was surpassed by the Manhattan Life Building. At the time, the newspaper was run by Joseph Pulitzer (1847-1911).
