Calvary Church, Park Avenue South - 1906

East side of Fourth Avenue (now Park Avenue South), north from 21st Street. Photograph by Brown Brothers, 1906. Source: New York Public Library, Irma and Paul Milstein Division of United States History, Local History and Genealogy.

The Calvary (Protestant Episcopal) Church, completed in 1848, is seen in the center of this photo, without its original wooden spires removed in 1860. The Church Missions House, completed in 1894, occupies the rest of the block above the Church, on the corner of 22nd Street. The others buildings were all torn down and replaced by office buildings.
