Seventh Avenue at 126th Street - Early 20th Century

Vintage postcard by American Art Publishing Company, H. Finkelstein & Son, postmark 1916. Looking south from 126th Street. Text on print: «Seventh Avenue uptown is one of the main thoroughfares and is lined on both sides with prominent and imposing apartment buildings. 125th Street is the center of the uptown shopping district. Many of New York's finest apartment buildings are to be found in this section.»

In 1974, this section of Seventh Avenue was renamed Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard. The old Alhambra Ballroom, built in 1905 at 2116 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard, is on the right.
