On the rainy day of October 21, 1944, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, approaching an election for an historic fourth term, toured through 51 miles in the streets of the City of New York City in a large motorcade.
Hotel Astor, on the left opened in 1904, the same year of the Times Building. The Paramount Building, on the left, was completed in 1926. It was the headquarters of Paramount Pictures and housed the Paramount Theatre.
Buildings on the block demolished to make way for Times Building.
Long Acre Square was renamed Times Square in 1904. This first subway line was completed in the same year.
