The national capital of China is Beijing. The country has borders with Laos, Vietnam, Burma, India, Bhutan, Nepal and Mongolia.
China has great physical diversity. The eastern plains and southern coasts of the country consist of fertile lowlands and foothills. The North China Plain was one of the cradles of Chinese civilization. Today it is a land of dispersed agricultural settlements.
